Explore the water resource challenges — and the potential solutions — that states in the American Southwest are facing during this two-day conference. Population growth, droughts, agriculture, mining, and oil and gas development are intensifying interest in groundwater availability and quality in Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, and Utah, as water is scarce and recharge rates are low in much of this region. The purpose of this conference is to bring together scientists, engineers, water managers, and others with an interest in the water resources of these states to share experiences and successes in addressing the region’s groundwater quantity, quality, and interconnections with surface water resources.
