Romero Joins MACTEC Office in Phoenix
Michael A. Romero has been appointed office manager at MACTEC's Phoenix office.
Romero supervises a staff of 85 in Phoenix; key services provided by the office include telecommunications, geotechnical, materials, and environmental engineering as well as facilities engineering and water resources management and development.
Romero has managed a number of significant projects for MACTEC in recent years, some of which include:
• Lucent Mini-to-Mod Expanded Services Project – Project consisted of site acquisition, architecture & engineering and construction services for about 7,000 sites nationwide.
•Crown Castle Launch of Cricket Service – Architecture and engineering design, engineered construction/environmental services for sites in Arizona and Nevada. Includes co-location at existing sites and rooftops, construction of raw land sites for monopoles, lattice towers, guyed-wire towers, permit coordination/tracking, construction document review and issue resolution.
•City of Phoenix – Tovrea Castle – Asbestos consulting services; work included Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA)-style building survey and lead based paint testing, developing a comprehensive report of findings, technical specifications for the remediation of asbestos and lead based paint, cost estimates and contract administration. Tovrea Castle is a historic structure and landmark.
Romero has four AHERA certifications – Asbestos Inspector, Management Planner, Contractor/Supervisor, and Project Designer. He received a bachelor's degree in technology education from the School of Engineering, Northern Arizona University. Romero is a member of the Environmental Information Association, Arizona Chapter of the Indoor Air Quality Association.
