AWWA Webcast to Discuss Disinfection Best Practices for Pipelines and Storage Tanks
Water professionals will learn how to effectively plan,
conduct, and verify proper disinfection of water distribution system
pipes and storage facilities during a March 5 Webcast hosted
by the American Water Works Association (AWWA).
The presentation will begin at 1 p.m. EST.
Utility staff, operators, manufacturers, contractors, and health agency
staff will dial in to "Disinfection of Pipelines and Storage
Facilities" to review AWWA standards and practices for system
disinfection. The 90-minute Webcast will provide working knowledge of
standards for disinfection and discuss how to properly complete the
disinfection of water distribution system components from an operations
perspective. Attendees will learn how to maintain water quality and meet
public health requirements.
Three speakers with more than 40 years of combined knowledge in water
treatment operations and distribution will conduct the Webcast. Michael
Wentink, REHS, is Training and Certification Officer for the
Nebraska Public Water Supply Program within the Nebraska DHHS Division
of Public Health. As Assistant Superintendent of the Water Distribution
Division at the Greater Cincinnati Water Works, Jeffrey M. Pieper, PE,
is responsible for the day-to-day repair, maintenance, and
operation of the utility's underground infrastructure. Betsy
Reilley-Matthews, PhD, is the Senior Program Manager of Water Quality
Assurance at Massachusetts Water Resources Authority and currently
serves on the AWWA ANSI/AWWA Water Storage Facilities Disinfection
standards subcommittee.
