EPA Fines Robert Yundt Homes LLC for Clean Water Act Violations
The company and its namesake face more than $100,000 in penalties.

The EPA took action against a Wasilla, Alaska-based homebuilder for violations of the Clean Water Act.
In a release dated August 3, the agency announced it penalized Robert Yundt Homes LLC and Robert Yundt $107,000 for actions that occurred between 2019 and 2021. According to the EPA, the company used heavy equipment to relocate and discharge material into Wasila Lake and Cottonwood Lake, causing environmental harm to the shore and nearby wetlands.
As a result, Robert Yundt Homes LLC agreed to pay $29,500 in penalties. And the EPA issued an administrative compliance order on multiple occasions, directing the company to take restorative action to mitigate its actions. However, its noncompliance with these orders led the U.S. Department of Justice to file a complaint against Robert Yundt Homes LLC with the court.
As a matter of resolution, all parties agreed to a consent decree requiring Robert Yundt Homes LLC and Yundt to take action to restore the shorelines at Wasilla Lake and continually preserve the wetlands near Cottonwood Lake. In addition, Robert Yundt Homes LLC must pay an additional $77,500 in penalties.
“Violations of the Clean Water Act can significantly affect the lives of Alaskans, and those who partake in these unlawful actions will face consequences,” U.S. Attorney S. Lane Tucker for the District of Alaska said in a statement. “The U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to support our partners across the nation to protect our communities and ecosystems from the effects of illegal environmental degradation, as in the case of Robert Yundt Homes, LLC.”
This action is open to public comment until August 30, 2023.
