Houston Contracts with Purepay Receivables
The city of Houston Water and Wastewater Utility has awarded Purepay Receivables Automation a contract for an image-based payments processing solution, including software, hardware, and services.
The utility, which serves approximately 2.8 million customers, consists of nearly 1,500 employees and pipelines and facilities located throughout a four-county service area.
The company will provide its ItemAge Express remittance processing solution, which will include components for courtesy and legal amount recognition (CAR/LAR), and online image archive and retrieval, according to a May 27 press release. The utility previously stored images on CD-ROMs. The company also will deliver Check 21 capabilities, enabling the utility to make electronic deposits, rather than having to bring checks to a bank branch each day. This functionality will reduce costs, improve staff productivity, and accelerate funds availability.
"ItemAge Express will help us increase efficiencies and further support our goal of operational and customer service excellence," stated Jeffry Taylor of the city of Houston Water and Wastewater Utility. "During the evaluation process, Purepay Receivables Automation distinguished itself as an eager partner that understands how technology can help us achieve our business objectives. They also were creative in finding solutions to our special needs. Affordability also was a consideration."
