Agencies Recognize Lowe's for Energy Star Marketing

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy have awarded Lowe's the 2008 Energy Star Award for Excellence in Retail Commitment for the company's outstanding contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through leadership in marketing and promoting energy-efficient products and solutions.

The Mooresville, N.C.-company will be recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on April 1.

Lowe’s, a partner in the program since 2001, is being honored for its continued leadership in marketing its comprehensive line of products that have earned the Energy Star, the mark of environmental protection through energy efficiency, as well as numerous energy-saving projects for the home.

"To be honored with an ENERGY STAR award for a sixth consecutive year validates the importance of our ongoing efforts to educate our customers about products that not only save money, but help conserve valuable natural resources," said Bob Gfeller, Lowe's senior vice president, marketing and advertising.

In 2007, Lowe's developed an advertising campaign dedicated to promoting its partnership with Energy Star. Advertising Age recognized one of the ads as "One of the Top 10 Most Liked, Most Recalled Ads."
