The EPA has launched a new website to help host cities, venues, partners, and fans support environmental stewardship efforts during the FIFA World Cup 2026™, the agency announced Thursday.
The website provides access to EPA tools, scientific resources and environmental information designed to help communities manage the anticipated influx of more than 10 million fans expected to attend matches across 11 U.S. host cities during the tournament.
According to EPA, the site supports the agency's mission to protect human health and the environment by making practical resources more accessible while highlighting environmental initiatives led by FIFA and local host cities.
In addition to the website launch, EPA provides technical assistance and science-based resources to FIFA 26 and local partners. The agency said its support includes air quality data, advisory services and tools intended to reduce food waste, improve recycling efforts, strengthen air quality management and expand environmental education programs.
EPA officials said the collaboration is intended to support clean air, land and water initiatives both during and after the tournament.
The FIFA World Cup 2026™ will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico and is expected to be one of the largest sporting events in the world.
Additional information about EPA's collaboration with FIFA 26 and host cities, along with technical materials and resources from federal, state and local partners, is available on the EPA and FIFA World Cup 2026™ webpage.
