New Studies Launched for Ohio River Tributaries
The Ohio EPA has initiated multiple studies to be conducted on the Lower Muskingum River tributaries and the Southwest Ohio River tributaries in order to monitor the water quality more closely.
The Lower Muskingum River tributary streams flow into the Muskingum River and all the surrounding creeks will be studied and sampled this year. The study will take up to two years to complete, but the results will be available to the public once finished.
The Southwest Ohio River tributaries will have another study conducted, which should be completed by 2016.
All the samples taken from the rivers will be used to determine correct classification of the streams in the area. Classification also involves the quality of water and aquatic life, and help to determine if any other studies need to be conducted.
