HDR Acquires HydroQual

HDR, an engineering and architecture firm, has acquired HydroQual, Inc., which specializes in water resource management.

Based in Mahwah, N.J., HydroQual has nine offices in New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Florida, Utah and Dubai. HydroQual will now conduct business as HDR|HydroQual. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“This acquisition not only expands HDR’s geographic reach in the Northeast, it also increases our water quality expertise around the world, and expands our industrial treatment capabilities using the design-build model,” said Gary Bleeker, HDR’s director of water programs. “HydroQual is very well respected in the industry and we are pleased they will be part of the HDR family in the future.”

“Joining HDR will provide HydroQual with access to clients in areas of the country that were out of reach, providing opportunity for continued growth and exposure to different and challenging projects,” said William Leo, HydroQual’s president. “HDR’s focus on their client fits very well with the culture developed over our 30-year service to the industry.”

HydroQual, Inc. was established in 1980. The firm specializes in the management of water resources including mathematical modeling to evaluate the fate and transport of pollutants and the effect of their presence in natural water systems, the assessment and optimization of water and wastewater treatment processes, environmental hydrodynamics and sediment transport modeling, natural resource investigation and engineering consulting services to public and industrial clients worldwide.

HDR is an employee-owned architecture, engineering and consulting firm with more than 7,800 professionals in 185 locations worldwide.
