Arch Coal Selects Enviance to Manage Environmental Data, Performance
Arch Coal, Inc. has selected Enviance as its enterprise solution to measure and report compliance data for water discharge management.
Arch Coal is the second largest U.S. coal producer, supplying cleaner burning, low-sulfur coal to fuel approximately eight percent of the nation’s electricity. The Enviance technology will allow the coal producer to enhance its environmental analysis and management, which includes compliance with governmental permits issued under the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act and the U.S. Clean Water Act National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System programs.
CH2M Hill, a full-service engineering, consulting, construction and operations, will implement the technology.

Based in St. Louis, Arch Coal has leading positions in all three major low-sulfur coal basins, with operations in Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Virginia. The company’s core business is providing U.S. power generators with coal for electric generation. It also ships coal to domestic and international steel manufacturers as well as international power producers.
