AWWA Hosts Webcast on Water Contaminant Review

The American Water Works Association (AWWA) will host a webcast to discuss possible changes in U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulation of four water contaminants. The webcast, "Implications of EPA’s Review of Existing Regulations," will be held at 1 p.m. EDT on July 28.

AWWA is offering this webcast in response to the recent publication of EPA’s six-year review of 71 existing drinking water standards. During the review, the agency determined that it may tighten standards on four contaminants, namely acrylamide, epichlorohydrin, trichloroethylene, and tetrachloroethylene.

Presenters will explain how the EPA staff conducted the review, why they selected these four specific contaminants for potential regulatory revisions, and discuss possible implications for utilities. Presenters include Wynne Miller and Rajiv Khera of EPA and Alan Roberson, AWWA director of Security and Regulatory Affairs.
