ASTM Sets IGCC Workshop for April 19 in St. Louis

An ASTM International workshop on the "International Green Construction Code (IgCC) and Beyond" will be held April 19 at the Renaissance St. Louis Grand and Suites Hotel in St. Louis, Mo.

Sponsored by ASTM Committee E60 on Sustainability, the workshop will be held in conjunction with the April 20-22 standards development meetings of the committee.

The International Code Council has been working at an accelerated pace to develop the International Green Construction Code. ASTM International and the American Institute of Architects have been working very closely with the ICC as cooperating sponsors. The mission of this partnership is to develop a model code focused on new and existing commercial buildings through consultation on standards and best practices.

This workshop will provide an overview of the code development process and content. It will review specific code language for example and possible application in the field, and it will address the critical role of standards in the code. The first public version of the code was published in March 2010 and is expected to inform many policy discussions currently under way.

Online registration closes April 14. There is no fee to attend the workshop. For more information, visit www.astm.org/E60work410.htm.
