AECOM Assists Port of Long Beach with 'Green' Improvements

AECOM is providing environmental engineering support to the Port of Long Beach (POLB) as part of its Green Port Policy and continuing plan to minimize impacts of its operations, and reduce air and water pollution. After providing design and permitting assistance and bid phase support during pre-construction, AECOM is currently assisting with engineering support during construction and implementation of long-term stormwater pollution prevention and dust control measures to ensure compliance with state water and regional air quality regulations. The company is also integrating sustainable design elements such as low-irrigation landscaping, low-maintenance bioswales, recycled material use, and construction waste reduction practices for use by POLB.

“Through our stormwater hydrology studies and joint efforts with POLB, we were able to design a cost-efficient, sustainable solution that will reduce water and air pollution,” said Marcus Millett, senior engineer, Environment. “This project will help POLB manage its growth while adhering to its world-class Green Port Policy.”
