LeChevallier to Speak at Conference in Singapore

American Water Works Company, Inc. said Mark LeChevallier, Ph.D., director of Innovation and Environmental Stewardship at the company, will speak at the Global Conference on Microbial Contaminants in Drinking Water in Singapore from Oct. 5-8.

A renowned expert in microbiology, LeChevallier will give a presentation on “Management Risks from Pathogen Intrusion into Drinking Water Systems” during which he will explain methods for successful prevention, testing and treatment of source water contaminants.

LeChevallier directs the research, environmental management and environmental compliance programs for more than 1,000 operating centers, which includes environmental audits, development of a national cross connection control program, and implementation of environmental stewardship and greenhouse gas control programs. He is the chair of both the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Water Science and Research Division and the AWWA Total Coliform Rule Technical Action Workgroup. He has also served on several U.S. Environmental Protection Agency committees, the Disinfection By-Product Council Technical Advisory Group and the Drinking Water Advisory Committee. He is a member of the AWWA, the American Society for Microbiology, the World Health Organization drinking water revision committee, and the International Water Quality Association.

Organized by AWWA and the PUB of Singapore, the conference will provide a comprehensive forum for the exchange of information and ideas relating to this critical public health issue.
