ANSI Workshop Focuses on Product Standards
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) will hold a workshop on issues related to sustainability and environmental performance standards for products on April 8-9 in Arlington, Va.
The workshop – organized with the support of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency – will provide a neutral venue where all interested stakeholders can engage in discussions that will support and facilitate the timely development, promulgation, and use of standards to address sustainability issues related to products.
The main sessions will be available for access via Webinar and teleconference.
As the impact that manufactured goods can have on the environment throughout their life cycle becomes more apparent, the sustainability and environmental performance of products have become priorities for government, industry, and consumers.
The workshop is not a standards development activity; rather, the two-day event will focus on the standards development process and the characteristics of a robust and effective multi-attribute product standard for sustainability. Interested stakeholders that represent standards developing organizations, consortia and other forums, industry, government, and consumers are welcome to attend. The event will include panels, facilitated discussions, and breakout sessions covering the development of standards that can best address the complex sustainability issues faced by manufacturers and consumers today.
