Safety-Kleen Acquires Atlantic Industrial Services

Safety-Kleen Systems, Inc., has acquired the assets of Atlantic Industrial Services, Inc., headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., one of the largest collectors and recyclers of used oil, oil filters, and antifreeze in the Southeast.

The acquisition includes 10 Atlantic locations, more than 100 experienced personnel, and a fleet of approximately 150 vehicles.

"For more than 10 years, AISI has supported thousands of used oil generators and industrial clients with their management of used industrial fluids," said Safety-Kleen Chief Executive Officer and President Frederick J. Florjancic. "Now, those customers will gain the benefits of Safety-Kleen's broad set of environmental management solutions, as well as those services previously provided by AISI."

With approximately 4,300 employees and more than 200 facilities across the United States and Canada, Safety-Kleen operates North America's largest network of used oil collection and re-refining, industrial cleaning, and environmental services.

"The focus of AISI on collecting and processing used oil and related industrial fluids fits well Safety-Kleen's plans for growth through acquisition," Florjancic said. "And for former AISI customers, this will be a totally seamless transition -- it is a top priority for us to ensure that there will be no interruption of service to AISI customers."

Florjancic also said that current AISI service agreements and schedules will be honored.
