Boyd Accepts National AWWA Appointment

Glen R. Boyd, Ph.D., project manager and supervisor for HDR's Water Quality program of the Water Supply and Treatment business class in Seattle, Wash., has been appointed chair for Emerging Water Quality Issues for the American Water Works Association, according to an Oct. 14 press release.

Upon accepting the appointment, Boyd said, "I hope to contribute to the awareness and understanding of emerging issues facing the drinking water community."

Boyd explained that the focus of the committee is to identify emerging water quality issues that could affect the drinking water community. For example, global climate change is an issue that the committee will be addressing during the coming year, he said. The committee appointment is for three years.

In his work, Boyd manages and conducts applied research studies and technical evaluations pertaining to water quality and treatment, regulatory impact and compliance, and water resources planning. Considered an authority on water quality issues, he has published several articles in journals and research reports and presented at numerous conferences and workshops. He serves as a peer reviewer for several journals and funding agencies. Boyd has been named an HDR professional associate, a designation that is awarded by nomination and reserved for the company's best technical experts.
