Koenigsberg Joins ENVIRON as Principal

ENVIRON, a global environmental science, health, and sustainability consultancy, announced on Aug. 20 that Stephen S. Koenigsberg, Ph.D., has joined the company as a Principal, based in its Irvine, Calif., office.

Well-known for his contributions to in-situ remediation and advanced site diagnostics, Koenigsberg will focus on expedited site exit strategies.

"Steve's research is the driving force behind several widely used remediation products and technologies," said Joseph Hower, managing principal of the company's Southern California operations, "and his work has helped define the emergent field of expedited site closure. His approach, which takes advantage of recent advances in molecular biology, analytical chemistry, geophysics, modeling, and risk assessment, will benefit ENVIRON's clients through optimal remedial design and management, more affordable treatment protocols, and speedier site closures."

Koenigsberg was a founding principal of Regenesis, an internationally recognized environmental remediation products company where he co-invented and developed the company's foundation bioremediation products.

Koenigsberg received his master's and doctoral degrees from Cornell University and is an adjunct professor at several institutions, including the California State University at Fullerton, where he also serves as chair of the Dean's Advisory Council. He has published more than 150 technical articles on remediation science and advanced site diagnostics with an emphasis on environmental biotechnology.
