Grants Now Available for Wetland Projects in Maine
The State of Maine Department of Environmental Protection is now accepting applications and proposals for wetland improvements and restoration. The projects should include ideas for dealing with climate change and floods, as well as ways to help improve wildlife habitats.
The State of Maine Department of Environmental Protection is now accepting applications and proposals for wetland improvements and restoration. The projects should include ideas for dealing with climate change and floods, as well as ways to help improve wildlife habitats.
As of July 6, 2015, eligible parties are encouraged to apply for grant monies for wetland projects. In their applications, their proposed plans must meet the following outlines:
“Provides restoration of impacted wetlands, enhancement of existing wetlands, or creation of wetland from upland; provides habitat for wildlife species, including birds, fish and amphibians; provides water quality benefits; demonstrates the technical expertise to implement the wetland restoration project; and demonstrates the capacity to maintain and protect the wetland in the future.”
