Clean Energy Summit Set for Aug. 13
Several current and former federal officials are participating in the Las Vegas event, which is hosted by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and several Nevada organizations.
This year's Clean Energy Summit is taking place Aug. 13 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, with keynote speeches by Interior Secretary Sally Jewell, Energy Secretary Dr. Ernest Moniz, and Jon Wellinghoff, chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Panel sessions on breaking through gridlock, clean energy solutions in states, the 21st century energy market, and resilience to extreme weather also are on the one-day event’s agenda.
Environmental professionals will be interested to know that Lisa Jackson, who until recently served as EPA administrator and now is Apple's vice president for environmental initiatives, also is scheduled to speak at the "National Clean Energy Summit 6.0: Energizing Tomorrow." Jackson will join Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Director Dr. Arati Prabhakar and American Wind Energy Association CEO Tom Kiernan on the panel "From Innovation to Deployment" that will highlight approaches to transform innovative clean energy ideas into commercially available technologies.
The annual conference is hosted by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, the Center for American Progress, Clean Energy Project, MGM Resorts International, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
