Senate Confirms Silva as EPA Water Office Chief

The Senate recently confirmed Peter Silva as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Assistant Administrator for the Office of Water. His swearing in ceremony is expected by the end of July, according to a report from the Water Environment Federation.

Silva spoke in June to attendees of the American Water Works Association Annual Conference and Exhibition, which was held in San Diego.

In this position, Silva will be responsible for Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act programs and regulations.

Silva is a civil engineer with 32 years experience in water and wastewater management. He most recently served as a policy adviser for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and previously served six years on the California Water Resources Control Board.

Benjamin Grumbles held the position in the last Administration.
