Training Company Offers REACH Seminar

The European Union has created a complex set of mandated regulations called the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemical Substances program (REACH) to better control chemical substances within its borders. Experts predict that these new global regulations will cause significant supply chain disruptions to both upstream and downstream suppliers.

Any company that exports REACH-regulated chemicals or products that contain REACH-regulated chemicals to the EU must follow the REACH registration and documentation protocols. The regulations affect nearly every industry, including manufacturers, exporters, suppliers, purchasers, sub-assemblers, and distributors who deal with chemicals and products containing chemicals. A few examples of less obvious industries include furniture, automotive parts, electronics, paint, clothing, and detergents.

Lion Technology Inc. is offering a new Web seminar Oct. 28, Nov, 4, 11, and 18 to help companies understand how REACH will affect the way they do business. It will cover how the regulation affects the supply chain; which chemicals, formulations, and "articles" are subject to the regulation; deadlines for pre-registration and registration of products; chemical information that must be shared with other companies; and where to locate the most up-to-date REACH information.
