A new two-year national alliance with the Recycled Materials Association (ReMA) will provide employers and workers across the recycling industry with resources to improve safety practices and reduce workplace hazards.
The agreement will generate fact sheets, toolkits, and training resources to address some of the sector’s most pressing risks, including slips, trips and falls, musculoskeletal injuries, lithium battery incidents, hazardous energy control, and heat and cold stress. Industry events and conferences will also be used to share best practices and highlight emerging safety concerns.
The initiative will focus heavily on outreach to small- and medium-sized employers in the recycling sector, helping companies build stronger programs even where resources may be limited.
The alliance builds on national efforts to ensure recycling facilities not only advance sustainability goals but also provide safe, healthy environments for the workforce that powers them.
