Up to $169M Available in Brownfield Grants
The EPA said that applications are now open. The agency expects to give out 198 grants.

This week, the EPA announced that new funding will be available for brownfield grants.
The agency said that $169 million will be available under the 2023 fiscal year, per an EPA news release. Applicants can apply for “Brownfields Multipurpose, Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund and Cleanup Grants,” the EPA said.
The agency estimates that it will give out 198 grants, ranging in funds from $500,000 to $2 million per award.
“With this funding opportunity, we will remove longstanding barriers to brownfields reuse and spur new sustainable and environmentally just redevelopment in communities across the nation,” said Carlton Waterhouse, EPA Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Office of Land and Emergency Management in the news release.
Those interested in applying can do so online. Applications will close on Nov. 22, 2022. If you want to learn more about the grants, there will be three webinars from the Office of Brownfields and Land Revitalization on Sept. 29, Oct. 4 and Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. EDT.
