New Water Towers to Ensure Continuous Service for New Orleans
The Sewerage and Water Board's $50 million project will erect two 200-foot-tall water tanks that will hold 4 million gallons of water. If there is a complete loss of power, the towers will provide uninterrupted water pressure and continuous water service to the city.
City and state officials and members of the local community, including New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, visited the city's Carrollton Water Plant at 8800 South Claiborne Ave. on May 25 to get a firsthand view of the construction of two new towers.
Their visit, hosted by officials from the city's Sewerage and Water Board. Its $50 million project will erect two 200-foot-tall water tanks that will hold 4 million gallons of water. If there is a complete loss of power, the towers will provide uninterrupted water pressure and continuous water service to the city.
"This infrastructure investment makes the City's water supply and this facility more resilient and will help mitigate any future boil water advisories," the mayor's office announced.
