LA Sues Oil Company for Allegedly Breaching Environmental Regulations
The city of Los Angeles’ Attorney’s Office sues AllenCo Energy
AllenCo Energy is being sued by the city of Los Angeles for allegedly releasing toxic vapors that have caused locals to become ill, according to an article from CBS. The vapors came from an oil field in University Park, Los Angeles and the complaint from the city alleges that the company failed to comply with environmental safety standards.
According to the article, the claim against the company suggests that AllenCo did not maintain fire suppression systems, did not comply with water quality control standards, and violated rules that were in place to ensure the safety of those who live by the oil field. Residents and business owners surrounding AllenCo have launched complaints about bothersome odors and health problems caused by AllenCo for years, according to CBS News.
