Water Cleanup Technology Demo Announced
OriginOil describes it as a high-speed, chemical-free process to clean up large quantities of water. The company will inaugurate its Permanent Technology Showcase during the Dec. 18 demonstration.
OriginOil Inc. will demonstrate its field-scale systems to remove ammonia and disinfect fish ponds in a single step, and also harvest algae efficiently for healthy and economical fish feed, on Dec. 18 at Aqua Farming Tech in Thermal, Calif. OriginOil developed the Electro Water Separation technology, which the company describes as a high-speed, chemical-free process to clean up large quantities of water. The company will inaugurate its Permanent Technology Showcase during the demonstration.
The ribbon-cutting will feature remarks by state Assemblymember V. Manuel Perez; Mayor Eduardo Garcia of Coachella, Calif.; Kevin Kelley, general manager of the Imperial Irrigation District; and Dr. Thomas Ulrich, previously a principal scientist at the U.S. Department of Energy's Idaho National Laboratory and now an OriginOil adviser. OriginOil CEO Riggs Eckelberry will introduce the technical team headed by co-founder and inventor Nicholas Eckelberry.
"Fish farming is a hundred-billion-dollar industry, and more fish is now being farmed than beef in the world," said Perez, who represents California's 56th District. "But too often, fish is poorly fed and farmed in toxic conditions. The Coachella Valley can lead the world in clean, nutritious, and sustainable fish farming, and I am looking forward to seeing firsthand how this can be accomplished."
