Tom Baker Named New President of Recycling Council of Texas
The Texas-based organization that advises and informs the metals recycling industry elects new leadership
Tom Baker, the owner of Tom Baker Consulting and previous Senior VP at the David J. Joseph Company, brings over 40 years of experience in metals recycling to the table as he accepts his new position as president of Recycling Council of Texas (RCOT), according to a recent press release. He replaces Jim Shapiro, who served as president since 2008.
Baker hopes to grow RCOT’s membership, develop new leadership, protect against metal thefts and promote safe and legal metal recycling.
While still fairy new, RCOT has helped pass several laws, such as SB 694 and HB 555, which both make it difficult for metal thieves in Texas to distribute and sell stolen materials. The organization represents roughly 80% of recycled metals in Texas. In the future, RCOT hopes to place an emphasis on environmental and economic concerns regarding metal recycling.
