Applications Being Accepted for New England’s Environmental Merit Awards

The EPA is now accepting applications for the 2013 Environmental Merit Awards, which recognizes environmental achievements that were accomplished during the previous year. Applications will be accepted until Mar. 1, 2013.

During the 2013 Environmental Merit Awards, award categories will be available for individuals, state and local governments, businesses, other organizations, and also a lifetime achievement category. The awards are an annual event hosted by the EPA, and has been help each year since 1970. Past recipients of the awards include scientists, public officials, community activists, business representatives, and others who are committed to protecting and preserving the environment.

An independent EPA panel will select the winners based on long-term effects on the environment, ability to address an environmental problem or need, collaboration with others, ability of the program or accomplishments to be widely shared, clarity and effectiveness of the presentation, and promotion of innovative ideas or techniques.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held this spring in Boston. For more information or to obtain a nomination form, please click here.
