2013 Governor's Environmental Excellence Awards Now Accepting Applications

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) in Pennsylvania is now accepting applications for the 2013 Governor’s Environmental Excellence Awards.

The Governor’s Environmental Excellence Awards to open to businesses, farms, individuals, government agencies, educational institutions, and non-profit organization in Pennsylvania that have developed ingenious environmental projects and technologies, or for those that have created opportunities that balance environmental stewardship and economic development.

“Many Pennsylvanians devote their time and energy to projects that promote environmental protection and foster economic growth,” DEP Secretary Mike Krancer said. “That kind of dedication deserves recognition, and this award recognizes those individuals and organizations that distinguish themselves and serve as role models.”

Projects available for the awards include wastewater recycling technology innovation, renewable and alternative energy innovation, watershed restoration strategies, environmental education outreach, and more. Projects will be evaluated based on seven criteria detailed within the application, including potential job creation and use of innovation technology.

Projects should be submitted via email to [email protected] by 5 p.m. on Jan. 31, 2013. Faxed or mailed submissions will not be considered.
