Blue Earth, Minn., Expands Biosolids Storage

Bolton and Menk and Wilkus Architects are providing design services for the wastewater treatment plant.

Wilkus Architects is part of the integrated design team that will provide services for the improvements to the Blue Earth Wastewater Treatment Facility in Blue Earth, Minn. Bolton and Menk, Inc., an environmental engineering firm, leads the team.

The biosolids storage expansion includes a 2,000-square-foot, brick clad control room and two new sludge storage tanks. Construction is under way. The general contractor is The Joseph Company of Austin, Minn. The new facility is scheduled to be open this spring.

The city of Blue Earth is located in Faribault County and is situated on the Blue Earth River and conveniently located on the I-90 corridor. The river was given the Native American name "Mahkota" (meaning Blue Earth) for the blue-black clay found on the river banks.
