BAE Systems' Facility Wins Silver LEED Award

The Rockville, Md., facility supports the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Program.

BAE Systems' new facility in Rockville, Md., has been awarded a Silver certification from Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), the internationally recognized system for green buildings.

The award acknowledges that the facility offers clear and measurable benefits to the environment, such as energy savings, water efficiency, and indoor air quality.

Last June, about 400 BAE Systems employees relocated from nearby Silver Spring to the new, 139,000-square-foot building, part of the Redland Corporate Center in Rockville. DBI Architects Inc., KTA Engineering Group, CresaPartners, and Davis Construction shared with BAE Systems the LEED award from the U.S. Green Building Council.

"This recognition demonstrates BAE Systems' commitment to providing high quality and efficient work spaces for our employees," said Richard Anderson, vice president and general manager of Integrated Technical Solutions at BAE Systems Support Solutions.

The Rockville facility serves as the primarily location for BAE Systems' support to the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Program, which overseas submarine-based strategic weapons systems. This facility also supports the Navy's Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems and the NATO SEASPARROW Surface Missile System.
