EPA Grant Helps Great Bend, Kan., with Sewer Rehab

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded $291,000 to Great Bend, Kan., for improvements to its existing sanitary sewer system, according to a Dec. 4 press release.

EPA Region 7 Acting Regional Administrator William Rice said, “EPA is proud to award these water infrastructure funds to protect water quality and extend the useful life of the existing sewer system.”

The city of Great Bend has been working to upgrade the older, existing sanitary sewer pipes and manholes to restore the capacity of the system. The grant will help rehabilitate or replace approximately 13,775 feet of sewer and 27 manholes.
