Registration Deadline Nears for WEF TMDL Conference
The Water Environment Federation (WEF) will present "TMDL 2009: Combining Science and Management to Restore Impaired Waters" from Aug. 9-12 at the Hilton Minneapolis in Minneapolis, Minn.
Co-sponsored by the Central States Water Environment Association, with support from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Advisory Committee on Water Information, and the Water Environment Research Foundation, this conference will focus on the Clean Water Act and the full scope of pollutants that impact U.S. waterbodies.
The TMDL (Total Maximum Daily Load) requirements of the Clean Water Act play a pivotal role in how and if the nation meets its water quality goals. Recognizing the importance and continually evolving nature of the program, this conference is designed to help water professionals, states, tribes, and local organizations develop and implement effective TMDL programs by providing access to the latest tools and information. Most importantly, it provides a forum for stakeholders from all sides of the issue to discuss and understand each other’s positions. TMDL 2009 will include podium presentations, panel discussions, and workshops on the following topics:
- Pollutant-Specific TMDLs
- Water Quality Standards
- Modeling
- Stormwater and Nonpoint Source Issues
- Stakeholder Involvement and Public Participation
- Regulatory, Policy, and Implementation Issues
