Dr Pepper Plant Contracts with Siemens

Siemens has been awarded a multi-million-dollar contract by The Benham Companies to provide a process water system for Dr Pepper Snapple Group’s new bottling plant in Victorville, Calif., according to a July 8 press release.

The treated water will be used to make purified bottled water and various soft drinks. The 1,200-gallon per minute (273-cubic meter per hour) system will include media and carbon filtration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis, and ultraviolet disinfection and is designed to recover more than 90 percent of the water.

Siemens will design, install, and start the system, which is scheduled for commissioning in early 2010.

Once completed, the Victorville plant will be the most advanced production facility in the company's system and will be Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified. Siemens worked closely with Benham and the Snapple Group in Plano, Texas, to design a sustainable, reliable, and cost-effective water treatment system that meets the facility's stringent ingredient water specifications. The system incorporates such water-saving features as reject recovery reverse osmosis and backwash reclaim from the multimedia filters and carbon towers.
