WEFTEC Registration Now Open

Registration and housing is now open for WEFTEC.09, the Water Environment Federation’s 82nd annual technical exhibition and conference. This year’s event will take place Oct. 10-14, 2009 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

The technical program will feature 122 technical sessions plus 31 workshops and nine local facility tours. A wide range of topics and focus areas allow attendees to design their own, unique learning experience while earning up to 35 contact hours for continuing education units and 9 professional development hours.

The 2009 focus areas include collection systems, instrumentation and automation, industrial issues and treatment technology/microconstituents, leading edge research, residuals and biosolids management, sustainability/energy conservation, utility management, water reclamation and reuse, watershed issues, and more. The exhibition­­ – the largest annual gathering of water and wastewater products in the world – will provide access to the latest developments, research, regulations, solutions, and cutting-edge technologies in the field.

Other conference highlights will include

  • the Opening General Session featuring Dr. Mike Magee who will discuss how lack of access to potable water impacts public health;
  • the Students & Young Professionals “Wading for Wetlands” community service project that will replant, restore, and revitalize part of the wetlands at the Orange County Utilities Northwest Water Reclamation Facility;
  • poster sessions,
  • the design competition, and
  • the 22nd annual Operations Challenge competition.

Registration rates will not increase for WEFTEC.09. In addition, the Water Environment Federation is offering a $50 discount toward Full Conference & Exhibition registration to those who book a hotel through the WEFTEC Housing Bureau and register between March 31 and June 1.
