WM Subsidiary Acquires Spectrum Environmental Solutions
WM Healthcare Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary of Waste Management, Inc., on Nov. 24 announced that a subsidiary has purchased certain assets of Spectrum Environmental Solutions, an Escondido, Calif.-based company that specializes in the safe disposal and transport of medical waste. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
In connection with the acquisition, Tim Tucker, Spectrum's former president and chief executive officer, will join WMHS, with oversight of its local operations in the southern California area.
"The purchase of Spectrum Environmental's assets will allow us to provide an increased level of service options for our customers in the San Diego and Orange County region," said Jason Rose, general manager of Waste Management of San Diego and Orange County. "Spectrum Environmental has an established reputation for customer service and we are pleased to incorporate their expertise into our comprehensive environmental service offerings."
Rose added that the new acquisition will allow businesses a wide-ranging selection of waste options that will include disposal of trace chemotherapy, pathological, hazardous, medical, pharmaceutical and sharps waste, as well as the recycling of papers, organics, plastics, glass, light bulbs, batteries, and electronic waste.
"Our goal is to become a complete partner to our customers to help them green their businesses and manage their material streams more efficiently," Rose said.
WM Healthcare Solutions, Inc. is a special services subsidiary of Waste Management, Inc. that provides a complete range of sustainable and cost-effective "managed waste and environmental solutions" specifically designed for the healthcare industry.
