Schlehuber Joins Summit Global Management
Michael J. Schlehuber has joined Summit Global Management of San Diego, an investment management firm with a focus on the water industry, as a managing partner and member of the Executive Committee, according to a recent press release.
A trained hydrogeologist and practiced financial executive, Schlehuber is an experienced architect of large water asset portfolios for corporate owners and will champion similar efforts at Summit.
As chief financial officer at Vidler Water Company, a division of PICO Holdings, Schlehuber developed water resources for sale to municipal water providers throughout the western United States, with realized transactions in excess of $100 million and an expected valuation of retained assets several times that. Notable deals included the purchase and subsequent sale of 17,000 acres of land and associated water rights in Harquahala Valley, Ariz., and the first transacting of surplus water from the California State Water Project in conjunction with 185,000 acre-feet of groundwater storage in the Semitropic Water Storage District. Additional transactions were completed in Colorado and Nevada.
Schlehuber began his career in water as a hydrogeologist with Eastern Municipal Water District, a member agency of Southern California's Metropolitan Water District. He most recently served as chief financial officer of ASM Marketing Services Group, where he managed revenue growth from $17 million to $230 million during a six-year tenure.
He earned a bachelor's degree in geology from the University of Notre Dame and a master's degree in geological sciences with a specialty in hydrogeology from the University of California, Riverside. Schlehuber also earned a master's in business administration from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, and holds both CFA and CPA designations.
