Deadline Nears for Michigan Energy Excellence Awards

Anne Armstrong Cusack, Michigan Agency for Energy acting executive director, says the contest "is a chance to celebrate leaders in innovation all over the state. Past winners have cut energy usage without sacrificing productivity or comfort. They have seen firsthand that the cheapest, most reliable, and greenest energy is the energy you don't need."

The Michigan Agency for Energy is reminding state residents and companies that the deadline for nominating an individual or organization for the Governor's Energy Excellence Awards is March 31. Nominations for projects completed in 2017 can be made online.

Nominators can submit nominations for more than one individual or organization, though only one nomination can be submitted for each project. Self-nominations are also permitted. Organized by Michigan Saves, the awards honor Michigan organizations and individuals for their commitment to a brighter energy consumption future.

"All across Michigan, individuals and organizations are working hard to increase energy efficiency by reducing energy waste," said Anne Armstrong Cusack, MAE acting executive director. "That has saved billions of dollars while increasing Michigan's electric reliability. This is a chance to celebrate leaders in innovation all over the state. Past winners have cut energy usage without sacrificing productivity or comfort. They have seen firsthand that the cheapest, most reliable, and greenest energy is the energy you don't need."

There are eight award categories:

  • Innovator of the Year— Presented to an individual driving innovation in Michigan's energy-efficiency industry.
