West Virginia DEP Awards Electronics Recycling Grants
The program determines whether manufacturers have adopted or implemented free take-back/recycling programs for their products and awards recycling grants for county or city programs that divert covered electronic devices from their waste stream.
The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection announced Oct. 12 that its Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan has approved 11 applicants to receive a total of $96,903.25 in grant funding to recycle covered electronic devices. The CED Program was established in 2008 and requires manufacturers to register their brands with the state; fees collected from this program allow counties and cities to apply for CED grants to conduct electronic collection events and support ongoing collection programs.
