SEPTA Partners With Energy Management Firm to Help Reduce Utilities and Fuel Costs
Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, the nation’s sixth-largest public transport organization, has signed a three-year contract with SourceOne energy consulting firm. SEPTA is looking for support for electricity and natural gas procurement.
“This collaborative effort with SourceOne is part of SEPTA’s commitment to providing the most efficient and cost-effective services to our customers,” said Frank Gormley, SEPTA’s Operating Budget Director. “We are enthusiastic about our partnership with SourceOne and look forward to a relationship that should further reduce our carbon footprint and reduce utility costs. We see this work as a critical part of our efforts to better service the communities we work in, and the passengers who rely on us for transportation.”
As part of the agreement, SourceOne will provide recommendations on the best practices for energy management to one of the country’s oldest transportation systems, dating back to the deployment of electric trolleys in 1892. SourceOne will work with SEPTA to assist and advise staff on strategies for the purchase and management of all SEPTA utilities, including natural gas, water and sewer (including all storm water issues), electricity, heating oil and propane. They will also help SEPTA evaluate renewable energy credit markets to be used to determine the viability of pursuing different alternative energy projects as required.
SourceOne provides energy services focused on efficiency, cost-effectiveness and reliability.
