Texas Water Foundation Announces New Strategic Plan
It calls for boosting the foundation's role as a key influencer in securing Texas' water future through a robust legislative agenda and a strategy to promote statewide water awareness and leadership.
The Texas Water Foundation, a leader in promoting sustainable water management policies in Texas, has released its new strategic plan. It calls for boosting the foundation's role as a key influencer in securing Texas' water future through a robust legislative agenda and a strategy to promote statewide water awareness and leadership.
Carole Baker, president and CEO of the foundation, said the new plan "is what Texas needs to safeguard water for present and future generations." Its goals are to:
- Foster relationships with leaders and equip them with the tools to develop policies focused on sustainable water management
- Equip organizations with the policies and stakeholder to support sustainable water management
- Develop persuasive outreach campaigns to create a public that understands the importance of its water
- Train talented water professionals and connect them with leadership opportunities
With the upcoming 2019 legislative session, the strategic plan amplifies the foundation's voice in the halls of the Texas State Capitol. Priorities for the legislative agenda include Hurricane Harvey recovery; conservation and efficiency policy improvements -- helping legislators understand the benefits of the Water Conservation Advisory Council's policy recommendations, such as a time-of-day limitation on outdoor watering -- and also valuing water through healthy markets.
