Air Emissions Fine Included in TCEQ Penalties Totaling $875,769
The commission issued agreed orders for the following enforcement categories: seven air quality, one industrial hazardous waste, three industrial wastewater discharge, two municipal solid waste, seven municipal wastewater discharge, nine petroleum storage tank, 16 public water system, three water quality, and one waste disposal well.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality approved penalties totaling $875,767 against 49 regulated entities for violations of state environmental regulations at its July 7 meeting, including $142,979 in fines against Exxon Mobil Corporation for air emissions violations.

Default orders were issued for the following enforcement categories: one air quality, two municipal solid waste, and two petroleum storage tank.
The fines to Exxon Mobil involved air emissions violations in 2008-2014 in Kleberg County, according to the agency. Of the total, as part of a Supplemental Environmental Project, $57,192 will be paid to the Texas PTA for the Texas Clean School Bus Replacement Program to replace older diesel buses with newer buses that meet more stringent emissions standards.
In addition, on June 20, the TCEQ executive director approved a total of 50 penalties totaling $148,482. TCEQ's next meeting is scheduled for July 20.
