Water Enabled Technologies, Clemson Sign MOU for Desalination

Water Enabled Technologies, LLC (WET), Salt Lake City, Utah and Clemson University, Clemson, S.C., will work together in a joint research effort to develop existing and future products in the field of water desalination.

WET has announced a new process for desalination. Modular Desalination Unit (MDU) will mean affordable water for the masses, according to the company. The technology provides fresh water at a fraction of the cost of existing technologies, which means a fraction of the energy currently required, and will provide it at a fraction of the current costs for the capital outlay required for infrastructure.

Jim Kaiser, Ph.D., chief scientist for WET, said, “This agreement with Clemson is historic for all concerned, for between our company and this internationally recognized university, we are giving birth to a technology that will have an effect on all of mankind.”

Tom Scott, Ph.D., interim dean of the College of Agriculture, Forestry & Life Sciences and interim associate vice president for Public Service & Agriculture will be the research program director for Clemson University. John Kelly, Ph.D., vice president of Public Service & Agriculture and Economic Development also will work on the team. WET appointed Mike Cary as chief marketing officer to facilitate the research activities with Clemson University.
