Littleton Joins JJG as Wastewater Technology Leader

Jordan, Jones & Goulding (JJG), an engineering, planning, and consulting services firm, has hired Helen Xiaoxin Littleton, Ph.D. as the firm's Wastewater Technology Leader.

As a senior technologist and experienced environmental engineer, Littleton has designed a number of water and wastewater treatment plants, anaerobic/aerobic digesters, and pump stations and is considered an industry expert in aerobic and anaerobic biological process design as well as simultaneous nitrification/denitrification. She brings more than 30 years of experience to the company.

In her previous professional positions, Littleton has carried out intensive industry research, applied plant-scale applications in process design, and conducted exhaustive study on topics related to biological wastewater treatment. Most recently she has focused her professional activities on energy conservation, anaerobic digestion improvements, combined heat and power systems, greenhouse gas reduction, and sustainable system design.

Littleton has been actively involved with sustainable water and wastewater developmental works in China and in the United States. She is an active member of the Water Environment Federation's Municipal Wastewater Treatment Design Committee.

She also has participated in a number of World Bank wastewater projects, United Nations Development Programme workshops, Water Environment Research Foundation/Environmental Protection Agency energy efficiency workshops, and U.S. Graham Environmental Sustainability Institute research activities.
