AWWA Course Teaches Rate Making Skills

On April 1-3, the American Water Works Association will host the annual Financial Management: Cost of Service Rate-Making Seminar. Financial management, capital finance planning, and rate setting have become critical tasks that demand reliable financial tools for utilities. This three-day course, AWWA’s most popular seminar, will address these issues directly.

Given the current economic environment, the seminar’s time-honored strategies to teach attendees how to be precise and correct when setting rates are especially pertinent. Held in New Orleans, La., this timely seminar will be a valuable opportunity for water utility staff to learn to develop defendable policies, evaluate financial policies and rate impacts, set fair revenue requirements, and much more.

Seminar presenters include:

  • Thomas E. Gould, national technical director of Finance and Rates, HDR Engineering
  • David B. LaFrance, director of Finance, Denver Water
