WEF Accepting Applications for 2017 National Municipal Stormwater Awards
Winners will be announced this summer after an expert committee review and selection process. Each applicant will be designated a bronze, silver, or gold community within the categories of program management and innovation, and WEF also will identify high performers in program management and innovation.
The Water Environment Federation is now accepting applications for this year's National Municipal Stormwater and Green Infrastructure Awards Program. Phase I and Phase II municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) permit holders are invited to submit applications by April 1, 2017.
Winners will be announced this summer after an expert committee review and selection process. Each applicant will be designated a bronze, silver, or gold community within the categories of program management and innovation, and WEF also will identify high performers in program management and innovation. The Phase I and Phase II communities with the overall highest score will be recognized this fall at WEFTEC 2017, which will take place Sept. 30-Oct. 4 at Chicago's McCormick Place.
Now in its second year, and hosted by WEB, the MS4 awards program was launched through a cooperative agreement with EPA. Its objective is to inspire MS4 program leaders to seek new and innovative ways to meet and exceed regulatory requirements in a manner that is technically effective and financially efficient. The 2016 award winners were announced in September 2016 at the Stormwater Congress Luncheon at WEFTEC 2016 in New Orleans:
The 2016 winners in Program Management were: Phase I – City of Austin, Texas Watershed Protection Department; Phase II – Kitsap County Public Works, Wash.
Winners in Innovation were: Phase I – Jefferson Parish Environmental Affairs, La., Phase II – City of Auburn, Ala.
Overall winners with the highest scores were: Phase I – Santa Clara Valley Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program, Calif., Phase II – Capitol Region Watershed District, Minn.
