The new sculpture awaits the recipient of the 2016 Stockholm Water Prize.

Deadline Near for 2016 Stockholm Water Prize Nominations

They are due by Sept. 25 for the prize, which has been bestowed by the Stockholm International Water Institute for the past 25 years for extraordinary water achievements.

Fresh off last month's celebration of the Silver Jubilee of the Stockholm Water Prize, the Stockholm International Water Institute is seeking nominations for the 2016 prize. The institute asks "Who do you think has made remarkable achievements in water?" as it has unveiled a new sculpture for what it calls the world's most prestigious prize in water. The deadline for nominations is Sept. 25.

SIWI has presented the award for the past 25 years to a list of water industry luminaries from around the world. It describes the sculpture this way: "The optical qualities of the glass reflect nuances of blue and green, symbolizing the diversity of water. The unique sculpture, created by Torstensson Art & Design, consists of environmentally friendly recycled crystal and follows SIWI's new graphic profile."

The institute was founded in 1991 to promote water-wise solutions for sustainable development in the areas of water governance, transboundary water management, climate change and water, the water-energy-food nexus, and water economics. Its annual World Water Week in Stockholm is an international event for networking and sharing ideas on pressing water challenges.
