First Multifamily Housing Properties with ENERGY STAR Ratings Get Recognized by EPA

The EPA has announced the first apartment/condo buildings to receive ENERGY STAR certifications. 17 properties across the country were recognized.

The EPA has recognized 17 multifamily housing properties that have accomplished ENERGY STAR ratings for their outstanding energy performances. The properties are located in Arkansas, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, Washington, and also in D.C.

“Communities, renters and businesses all benefit when multifamily properties operate more efficiently,” said EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy. “When these buildings use less energy, they also prevent greenhouse gas emissions, increase comfort, and lower costs for renters, making it a win-win for the environment, public health and the economy.”
