An Interactive Recycling Tool: Bathroom to Bin
Plastics Make It Possible has launched Bathroom to Bin, a new interactive online tool that provides amusing information about plastics that can be recycled. By clicking on a virtual medicine cabinet, users can read about each type of recyclable plastic container and how it’s repurposed.
Since most consumers know about plastics in the kitchen that can be recycled, Plastics Make It Possible has created a new online tool to inform people on the plastics used in bathrooms that can be recycled just as easily. Bathroom to Bin is the interactive tool that tells site visitors about shampoo and conditioner bottles, cotton ball bags, mouthwash, and more that are recyclable containers.
“Bathroom to Bin is an entertaining way to encourage all of us to expand recycling beyond the kitchen and into the bathroom,” said Steve Russell, vice president of plastics for the American Chemistry Council, which sponsors the Plastics Make it Possible initiative. “Recycling bathroom plastics is a simple step we can take to help the environment by capturing more of this valuable material from the waste stream.”
The plastics recycled from a typical bathroom are often used to make new clothing, outdoor furniture, and cooking items, which helps create an even higher demand for recycling. When visiting Bathroom to Bin, users can also enter to win a $500 American Express gift card by answered a single-question poll.
